about

I can see your ailing body shudder
Hear the spindrift of your footsteps and the turn-key of your spine
It ain't me who's held to their body's ransom
I'm a tower of blood and muscle, I'm a church of steepled bone.

Let the world die, my reflection lives forever
I stare kneeling at the lake, send my features to the cloud
Where my street ends I built a new horizon
Where my sunset burns precisely 16 hours after dawn.

Is that echo some threadbare knuckles knocking?
Skin that lives outside of shelter and is the colour of loose change
All your children just dream about tomorrow
Chafe their hands on wooden horses that they ride right to my walls.

I believe that my heart might be turning rancid
I'm pouring all my finest liquor into this rotting sump of love
All my drinking makes my cleaners nervous
I've promised all of my staff double if they remember my first name.
